Stronghold Truck Repairs built our reputation on the repair and maintenance of cranes and aerial lifts as well as hydraulic systems and fabrication. While we have expanded our operation and now offer much more, we still have a soft spot for where we started. To that end, we are also ANSI certified by The Crane Institute of America for crane and aerial lift inspections.

Our team of knowledgeable and experienced technicians are more than capable of diagnosing and addressing any issues that may occur with your equipment. Additionally, we can provide preventative maintenance to keep your cranes and aerial lifts performing at their best. Stronghold Truck Repairs also offers on-site crane maintenance and repair with our mobile fleet of repair and welding trucks.

Crane & Aerial Lift Maintenance

Preventative maintenance is the best way to prevent major problems from occurring on cranes and aerial lifts. No one wants an accident to happen that could have been prevented by simply performing what should be routine inspections and tests of the equipment.

Our skilled team is more than willing to inspect and maintain cranes and aerial lifts to keep them in good working condition so you can stay on the job instead of losing precious time and money. That being said, here are some basic maintenance services we provide.

Inspection of alignment

Checking to make sure your crane is properly aligned is important because it can start to lean in one direction over time. Ignoring this problem long enough will result in catastrophe, which includes loss of life and property damage. If we spot a misalignment, we will repair it immediately.

Check connections

Connections such as wires, chains, and other parts of the hoist suffer wear and tear after repeated use. Cranes lift tons of weight and that puts a lot of tension on these connections. It is crucial to replace these parts when necessary so they don’t end up failing, especially while trying to lift tons of expensive materials on a job site.

Examining the hook

Hooks can develop cracks and bends over time due to the heavy loads attached to them. Operators should inspect the hook regularly and have it replaced if they notice any issues. We can fabricate a new hook right here in our machine and fabrication shops.

Wheels and Tracks

Mobile cranes need wheels or tracks to get from place to place. The wheels and tracks also serve as the base of the crane, so a breakdown would prevent proper usage of the crane. We will fix or replace tires that are leaking air. We will also inspect continuous tracks and remove rocks and other debris that become lodged so that they don’t seize up or become misaligned.

Hydraulic system

Cleaning the hydraulic system and replacing the fluids from time to time prevents contamination of the oil that causes the hydraulic cylinder to seize up. Pipes and hoses can clog or leak so we will check and replace these if needed as well.

Service

We take pride in maintaining and repairing cranes and aerial lifts. Providing satisfactory work to our customers is important to us, which is why we provide a wide array of services to get the job done right.

Fabrication

Our fully-equipped fabrication shop can produce just about any metal part your crane needs, including hooks, pistons, hydraulic cylinders, plating, pipes, engine parts, and bolts, just to name a few. If your crane needs it, we can manufacture it. This includes rare and discontinued parts from Skyhoist and Skyhook:

– SkyhoistSR

– SkyhoistRX

– SkyhookHD

– SkyhookSP

Welding

Since many metal parts need to be joined together, we have skilled welders on our team who will make sure your new metal parts are strongly welded to last.

Painting and Blasting

Need your crane or truck painted? We got you covered. We can blast metal to remove rust and give it a nice paint job and finish to make it shine like new, preventing corrosion, reducing tarnishing, and increasing the durability of your machine in the process.

Installation

Our skilled mechanics, welders, and technicians can install any part on any piece of equipment, including cranes.

On-Site Repair

Can’t come to us? We will go to you. Our team will happily travel to your job site in a truck featuring all the tools and state-of-the-art equipment they need to get your crane back on the job as soon as possible. This includes generators, compressors, on-road and off-road rigging equipment. On-site repair saves you time and money, and there is no project size that we cannot handle. If for some reason we absolutely need to work on your machine in our shop, we will haul it using one of our flat-deck transportation trucks and trailers.

Hydraulics Repairs

The hydraulic system of a crane is absolutely essential, and that’s why we can rebuild or repair hydraulic cylinders, including barrels, pistons, cylinder caps, cylinder heads, piston rods, seals, seal glands, head glands, threaded ductile heads, butt plates, brackets, mounts, pins, bushings, couplers, ports, fittings, and more. We also provide maintenance and inspections to keep existing hydraulic cylinders functioning properly and prevent the need for repairs or replacement.

Engine Repair

If you need engine repairs or a complete rebuild for your machine, we have the expertise and equipment to do the job. We can fabricate any engine part right here in our shop as well as do the installation, including wiring. Your crane truck will be purring when we are finished.

Upfitting: Installing a Used Crane on a New Truck

Upfitting a used crane on a new truck can be tricky. It really is a balancing act putting the right size and type of crane on top of a truck. You have to have the right kind of truck to handle the payload. Luckily for you, our team has upfitting experience. We will take the necessary steps to ensure your crane truck has the proper amount of balance and strength so you can be confident in your safety and performance on every job.

Telescopic cranes are available for service trucks that can handle as little as 2,000-pound lifts to as much as 14,000 pounds. Picking the right crane for the right truck is everything, and we are here to help you realize your vision. We can even help you install a crane on your pick-up truck.
